Biography
Ajay Devgan is a famous actor, director and producer of Hindi films. Ajay was born on 2 April 1969 in a Punjabi family in Delhi. His family has a very close relationship with Bollywood.
Devgan's father, Veeru Devgan, is a stunt choreographer and action-film director. So there is his mother Veena, a filmmaker. His brother, Anil Devgan is also a filmmaker and screenwriter.
Ajay Devgan did his early
education at Silver Beach High School Juhu, and after that he graduated from
Mithibai College.
Ajay Devgan is married to famous actress Kajol. He has two children, daughter Nayasa and son Yuga. The pairing of Ajay and Kajol was first seen in the 1995 film 'Halchal'. Film industry experts say that the love of these two grew from this film.
After this, Kajol became a big star in the 1995 film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. But by then this affair could not be realized. But during the shooting of the 1998 film Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha, the two began to grow closer and both came to the conclusion that we should get married without even expressing love.
After this, both of them did
not delay and got married in a very common wedding ceremony in 1999 in a
Maharashtrian way.
Early in his career, Ajay Devgan used to rule the hearts of girls as well. And this was the reason that the news of his affair with many of Bollywood's top heroines was always there. It also features Karisma Kapoor and Raveena Tandon, who broke her heart and married Kajol in 1999. Even saddened by this, Ravina had even tried to commit suicide.
Once during the promotion of a film after marriage, Ajay told about his lovestory that, 'I used to live very quietly. Kajol used to think that I am arrogant. We both used to talk very little but slowly started talking and then We went ahead, both of us did not propose to each other, first we became friends and then realized that we should get married. I did not want to get married on a very large scale, so everything happened quietly.
Ajay started his film career with the 1991 film Phool Aur Kaante. This film was a super hit at that time. In this film, the stunt done by him on two motorcycles remains a topic of discussion even today.
He was also awarded the Filmfare's Best Male Debut for his performance in this film. His next film was Jigar (1992), a Bollywood martial arts film. Her opposite Karisma Kapoor was seen in this film. It was released on Diwali Weekend and became the seventh highest grossing film (7 crores) of that year at the box office.
He then acted in successful films such as Sangram (1993), Vijaypath (1994), Dilwale (1994), Suhag (1994), Nazayaz (1995), Diljale (1996) and Ishq (1997). In 1998, he starred in Mahesh Bhatt's Bollywood-Drama Zakhm and received his first National Film Award for Best Actor for his role in the film.
In 1999, his most popular film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was released in which he played the role of Vanraj, a character who tries to reunite his wife with her lover. He also made a lot of headlines with this film.
There are many people in the industry who believe that Ajay does all the acting with his own eyes. This is the reason why Ajay has given many such films which have entertained the audience a lot.
Some other films made by Ajay are The Legend of Bhagat Singh, Rainkot, Gangajal, Yuva, Apahaan, Omkara, Golmaal, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, rajneeti, Singham, Son of Sardar, Badshaho, Shivaay and Raid etc.
He has so far received a total of 32 awards for his performance in films, including two National Film Awards, three Filmfare Awards, a Zee Cine Award, Screen Awards and Stardust Awards.
Apart from the acting awards, Devgan has won several awards including Achievement in Bollywood at Rajiv Gandhi Awards, ETC Bollywood Business Awards for 2010 Most Profitable Celebrity, Jasrat Award, NDTV Actor of the Year and Padma Shri Awards.
